Watching a video about whales narrated by David Attenborough is as good as it gets. ❤
I am a commercial crabber off the west coast of Oregon. 2nd generation fishing what I thought a sustainable fishery. Then crabbers in California tangled 67 whales in one year. I was shocked. Immediately I started researching the encounters many of which were the results of larger vessels fishing deeper waters outside of our traditional grounds. A group of these large vessels had an agenda to use these entanglements to shorten our season in April. Now we are in full time defense to save our fishery. When asked if anyone had any ideas to avoid encounters I suggested we use the whales language to deter them from our gear. I was laughed at by the manager whose only solution was taking traps off the water, ending our season early “ as asked by the 1 percent large vessels causing the entanglements” and basically putting all small boats out of business. I believe these animals are much more intelligent then we give them credit for.
I grew up listening to this man and never knew his name. Now I find out that he’s turning 99 May 8th. What a legend
I am 54 years old, and since my teenage years I become big fan of Mr David Attenborough his Voice as narrator is and will be forever unique
This has to be the clearest film of whales ever.....Quality..!
I love the idea of trying to outwit a whale rather than harm or harass it. Makes it that much more effective overall
Whales are on a whole different level. I took a picture of a humpback whale's eye looking at me from just below the surface, in MA waters, in 1992. It was like looking into indefinite knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Their intelligence is almost overwhelming.
It amazes me how gentle, calm and quietly they swim with such big bodies a gentle giant
Sometimes we get so caught up in our human lives and struggles that life feels hopeless and bleak. But documentaries like these remind me that there's so much beauty and wonder out there. Thank you so much for this phenomenal video 🙏🏻🐋
I’m definitely on Team Whale 🐋
David Attenborough is by far the best narrator ever. Love his documentaries.
Clever, wise whales. Love Sir Attenborough's narration. His love, passion, Witt and knowledge is heard in his voice ❤.
Are whales smarter than we think? Why not, when humans are dumber than what we could ever have imagined?
best narrator of all time, David attenborough
I've commented on another video about my experience with a Right Whale Mum and her calf off the coast of Maine. It was fairly far out to sea. I was on a sailing vessel about 60 feet at the water line. It was dead calm in fog and I had just finished my 4-hour watch. It's amazing what you can see in the fog, most of which doesn't exist. I spotted what I thought was another fog mirage; a whale coming up to breathe. She was immediately followed by her calf. It's a long story but the Mum was injured and clearly looking for help to take the piece of plastic that was cutting off circulation to her right fin. After some gentle nudging and a lot of eye contact, my brother passed his jackknife to me. It took about 20 minutes to cut the plastic free and it bled like fury. It did stop with as much pressure as I could bring to bear. Her calf swam to me and offered his? (hard to tell) fin and took me on a toboggan ride. Then my sisters all jumped in and the Mum and calf disappeared into the deep. It's something I relive over and over with awe, humility and gratitude to the Divine for that gift.
David Attenborough has narrated and been in documentaries for my entire life! From meeting head hunters in Guiana to now... I loved him as a little girl to the 58 year old I am today and his quiet voice has boomed loudly through it all. Much love to you Sir David! You've changed my life forever!

So refreshing to watch an actual video that is not driven by AI! Thank you for this awesome video!
That lone humpback cow that raids the salmon hatchery each year is such a character!! She's so smart and so special! Every year they should dedicate an entire salmon pen just for her! I'd chip in to cover the costs!
