CHILLING footage of the Maldives divers’ final moments could finally reveal how the tragedy unfolded as rescue workers recover their bodycams. All five bodies of the Italian tourists who were killed during a dangerous cave dive in the Maldives last week have now been recovered. The expedition team may have been sucked into the complex cave where they ran out of oxygen trying to escape, a new theory suggests. the great thing about cave diving is that it's totally optional
huge thanks to that dive team to recover the lost divers. amazing work. such a tragedy.
An air tank lasts about 45 minutes at 40feet. At 100 feet 15-20 minutes. At 160 feet 8-10 minutes. Cave diving takes special training and at160 feet those conditions are way beyond what a normal diver is trained for.
No mention of the rescue diver, also dead?!?
Single bottle+.+55m+Cave=Disaster awaiting
I can't explore caves even on earth! Deeply in the ocean is another level of horror that I don't dare imagine. RIP
Except the depth of the cave was SIGNIFICANTLY deeper than the boat was registered to dive to and where they were supposed to be. Somewhere along the line, someone who should have known better did something REALLY stupid.
I feel sadness for the victims and their families. Also I was wondering why most of the news outlets aren't also counting the 6th victim. There was another diver from the search and recovery team that lost his life trying to recover the bodies of the divers. May they all rest in peace
What a sad tragic event,my heart goes out to their families ❤
"Such a qualified group of divers" would never have entered a cave at 50 meters + on normal air with a single cylinder. There are too many no goes in that single sentence to go through now. They where not tech qualified either. They where normal divers that went way beyond the limits of safe diving and paid with their lives.
This is pure speculation. They were not supposed to be anywhere near the entrance of the cave at that depth in the first place.
WHAT A WASTE OF LIVES OF 5 YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLES.CONDELECENCE TO THE FAMILY INVOLVED
Very sad but they had no authorization being there.
So.......they're gonna charge the ocean current with manslaughter? There's a new one for the books!
"Checking out a cave" at that depth with just a single tank, whether nitrox or oxygen, is simply asking for a tragedy. Also they were found deep in the cave so just getting sucked in doesn’t seem like the right answer.
200ft dives inside caves require extremely meticulous preparation, attention to detail and tons of redundancies. Lack any of these and you die.
They only took 1 tank, they had to have 2 so someone messed up as it is standard to take 2 for cave diving..even the 1st rescuers took only 1 tank and one of them died...so sad that basic procedure caused these deaths
Manslaughter case against who? The cave?
They were not prepared for a 50 to 60 m dive. None of them had 2 tanks and none of them had cave diving skills - this is bs
Even just exploring the entrance area, they should have known risk of being sucked in given the weather reports. And they were on 1 tank
