Thank you so much for bringing a focus on LG's truly unacceptable level of privacy invasion on their customers. More reviewers should mention this in their videos like you did. Regular John/Jane customer will just hit yes-yes-agree without understanding how aggressively their data is being sold. It doesn't have to be this way. I wish they would sell DUMB TVs.
The User Agreements are a deal breaker for me, and seem outrageous! My private info, is MINE not theirs and there absolutely needs to have legislation passed to put an end to these companies gathering our information on any personal device we purchase, including cars!
I may be in the minority here, but I'm at the point where I don't even want a smart TV anymore. I just want a TV with a couple HDMI inputs that has a bright, colorful screen that's accurate. I have an LG, a Sony, and a Samsung. All of them have UIs that get crappier over time. We live in a world where computers have a 3- to 5-year life expectancy, and building them into our TVs that historically have had much longer expectancies than that seems short-sighted. What's worse is the way these manufacturers make it so that you have to go through their internal menu system and their smart apps to even get to the HDMI input. Build me a TV that is bright and accurate, and let me bring my own source. I'll swap out my Apple TV every three years as needed.

This is not exclusive to LG, my brother bought a brand new Samsung QLED last weekend and the same thing, you can't access any apps or install new apps in the smart hub unless you agree to the Samsung T&C. It is blatant manipulation and invasion of privacy. Even my 5 year old Samsung TV has ads that appeared in the smart hub about 18mths ago. Turned it on one day and there they were. No way of getting rid of them or blocking them. Tried a couple of hacks from YT, but that didn't do anything.
I do AV for a living. All the main brands now do that now. Samsung and Sony included.

Thanks for the review. To answer your question, LG is clearly over the line with their terms of service agreement. Personal privacy is getting harder and harder to maintain. Be well and rock on.
When I learned about lg tracking shenanigans I decided to unplug it from internet and turn my G oled into a dumb monitor, using a Linux HTPC as a source. I cannot access even basic picture settings without being connected to the internet, not even the picture mode. What I can do on my side is never to buy a lg device again and of course spread a word about it.

Samsung has been doing this for years... they require you to create an account to unlock anything which is worse than accepting user agreements for privacy imho.
LG has crossed the line. They've moved into that "unethical" space. I saw in a different video, that LG had also marketed one of their TVs as "mini-LED" but neglected to mention that it was edge-lit mini-LED - even in the specs on their website. In my books, they've become an untrusted brand.
I'm currently using an LG LED TV and planning to upgrade to C6. WebOS is pretty slow so I'll just continue to use my Apple TV for streaming media.
I've owned an LG OLED for over a year now, I have not connected it to the internet at all. A TV does not need a privacy policy nor does it need my data, it simply needs to display what I want it to display and look the way I want it to look (to the best of it's ability). I implore everyone to do the same, as inconvenient as it may be. The more people agree to these shady and anti-consumer practices, the more it encourages LG and other companies to start squeezing down on us. We are not the product, we are the reason these companies exist. Let them know.
Just bought a C5. Not the same t&c problem, this is unacceptable and everyone should bring this up in their reviews. Why would buying a TV force me to sell my firstborn, I want to watch movies and play games.

Who’s using the built in smart apps anyway? If you’re paying premium for an OLED, you definitely are gonna be getting an Apple TV and a Blu-ray player to go with it. I wish TVs had the option to be “dumb” again and just give me an input list
