the 150-160Wh/kg is the pack level density for LFP batteries, it's generally about 40% lower than cell level, are these potential 500Wh/kg cell of pack level density? If cell level yes about 40-50% improvement, if pack level a much bigger jump, but if we apply the 40% loss for pack level you are looking at around 300Wh/kg pack level, which is still a big jump of course, but would be good if we could have clarity on that with a lot of these videos. Many tend to mix pack level and cell level numbers without regard to what they are referring to and sometimes using them interchangeably, which does make it harder to grasp the actual improvements we will be getting with these batteries. So I assume with these cells we are looking at a pack level of 300Wh/kg compared to the 150Wh/kg of LFP cells, still a huge improvement by any measure.
So true. Bought a 52 inch flat screen in 2007 for $3000 and that was considered a bargain.

Everyone was keeping their stuff quiet. But since Donut Labs announced their battery, everyone is announcing what they were working on. Seems everyone has been very busy with some good tech that will move batteries and ev's forward quickly.
Gotion sodium ion at 260 w/h kg is plenty.
Hopefully the EV manufacturers will take this 3x increase in power density to build much lighter vehicles with modest range. The world needs small, light, inexpensive cars more than it needs 1200km range. If a SS battery only weighs 1/3 an LFP equivalent then the chassis can be much, much lighter and so the planet will thank both the manufacturers and the consumers.😊
These will just be for high end, low circulation vehicles for the next few years until they can bring the price down at scale. The new LFP's from CATL and BYD will dominate in the near term. They have improved density and the charging speeds are insane. More importantly than that is the cost. CATL sells their LFP's in $50 to $60kwh range and predict continued declines in pricing.

Another reason to put off buying an EV. There’s never been a more uncertain time to buy a car.
Hopefully soon. I am waiting a few years for a new ev and hope solid state is an option.
What about ProLogium? Among all the hype surrounding Donut and the established battery manufacturers, these guys don't seem to get a mention. Their solid state batteries are apparently already in production.
