You've reached the end
Someone suggested making chocolate buttercream and it drastically reduces the amount of food color you need to make black frosting.
I personally think those cake layers should have been cut in half with another layer of buttercream or a filling.. otherwise no matter how much simple syrup you add itโs gonna be dry when eating it
Black cocoa powder in conjunction with color mill black oil color works wonders to achieve black buttercream
just some feedback, this isnโt a tutorial, you mentioned about 3 things that you did whilst the video plays, no mention of the items you use, what youโre doing, how to crumb coat, showing how to get an actual heart shape, (this is mostly round), the piping tip usedโฆ etc
also mixing the buttercream with the coloring with an emersion blender makes the colors pop!
omg it reminds me of the purple place cakes, so cute!
for those who don't know the liquid she added to the cake in the first step is simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water) and bakers use it to add moisture to their cakes, especially if it's a large project that could take more than a day to complete
What are you putting on the cake before you frost it?? I canโt see if youโre pouring something on it or spraying something on it, but whatever you did seemed to turn the pink cake a bit darker shade of pink. Would love to understand the purpose of this step if anyone knows & would be kind enough to answer!!
My intrusive thoughts are kicking inโฆ telling me I can easily do this even though Iโve never baked a cake before ๐ looks lovely!
this is the perfect cake to frosting ratio actually you guys are crazy
That heart went from a happy pink to a depressed black color
What is she pouring on the layer before putting buttercream on...water? The cake looks really awesome ๐ค
Pro tip: try using an emersion blender for colors! You can use less and it helps blend out the grainy texture.
Use a hand blender to emulsify the black into the buttercream, it xomes out smooth and jet black ๐โค
๐ฎ what did you put on the cake before icing?
Another good way fo making black buttercream is starting with chocolate
An emulsion blender also helps to make colors more vibrant. The buttercream is a water-phobic solution while the food coloring is a water-loving solutionโbasically a water and oil situation. When you emulsify the buttercream, it helps break down the molecules into smaller pieces so that they incorporate. Thus, a richer, more intense color.
what is the water stuff?
Can someone tell me the name of the liquid she puts on the cake ? I'm trying to make cakes but they are dry sometimes ๐ข
what did you do with the cake you cut off the tops? Always wondered if that excess gets eaten
