I prefer cakes with more frosting than fondant. Like I love a naked( or minimally iced cake), but if I'm getting a decorated cake, I want icing. Edit: I'm not sure why this comment is so popular. The alternative to decorating with frosting is fondant. It was mentioned that decorating with frosting was seen as American. I simply explained why I don't mind that criticism. Others agreeded. No need to be rude over a freaking cake discussion.

People complaining about the sugar don't realize that's how you make a cute cake. And a lot of us don't eat the exterior frosting. I only eat the frosting that holds the layers together most of the time.

Frosting generally tastes better than fondant. People generally peel off parts of the fondant instead of eating it. Fondant generally has a lot of sugar too. Fondant is also a lot harder to make and expensive to buy. People make your own naked cakes and let me enjoy some frosting on my cake

I am from Ireland 🇮🇪 and I love your content and your variety of cakes. I don’t care about sugar ratios etc whatsoever! Cake is cake and contains sugar in some way shape or form because it’s a dessert. Cake is for pleasure and enjoyment. You are fantastic and I always have a big smile on my face when you have a new upload 🥰 😋

As a Brazilian it took me a while to get used to "american style" cakes but after consuming alot of content from american cake decorators i understand the appeal. In Brazil we *strongly* prioritize taste overl ooks which results in very simple and homely looking cakes. As a 21 year old, i would rather eat a tastier but uglier cake but as a kid i would much rather have had a fairy or a mermaid cake. If you make a moist cake and put actual filling in with 1/2 ratio between layers it will taste much better then a thin layer of frosting between two thick cake layers but you wont be able to play around with much decor because it will lack structure. Also I am not saying all ugly cakes taste good and all beautiful cakes taste bad just that what you prioritize will greatly impact the maximum quality those atributes can reach and you cant really have it both ways. In the end i still prefer the types of cakes we have here but i can think of situations where a "american style cake" would be better. Like a birthday for kids or a wedding where looks matter alot

Those people make zero sense, first off it's a cake. Most people don't want a completely plain cake. Second, cakes are for special occasions. Most people don't eat cake that often. Also one slice of a cake like this probably has less sugar than a can of soda. So if you're complaining about the sugar of this cake you better watch what you eat, because I'm sure it has more sugar than this.

This made me think of tajin for some reason. I bet that would be a tasty combo like a pineapple or lime flavored cake with some fruit in the middle maybe a white buttercream frosting and Tajin sprinkled on top 🤤🤤🤤 My back is so big 😂

Do you not have decorated cakes in other countries, i find it weird that people go to a CAKE DECORATOR'S channel to complain about sugar, like im sorry if there's not beautiful cakes in your country but why do you need to take it out on someone just trying to make a living.
