You've reached the end
Also a GPU didnt exist until NVidia made it a term it was always a graphics card, the whole point is takes the stress of rendering graphics off of the CPU so the CPU doesn’t get as hot
A GPU is passenger plane while a CPU is a fighter jet
An always cooler metaphor is : a CPU is a genius at math while the GPU is a school full of children If you got a complicated equation you give it to the expert but if you are just doing a bunch of repetitive and easy questions you give it to the children
Someone actually ran an entire system on only a GPU since it has io, ram, a processor, and cooling
"If axes cut trees faster than a pickaxe, why we still use pickaxes?" Type question
I like how this is explained
and TPU is a train. even more eficient but can only run along it's tracks
This is one of the analogies ever made
That is a genius way to explain it. I'm using this.
The analogy would probably better if the sports car needed to drive around to s adjust every stop light for the busses
Is there a mix of GPU and CPU (aka multiple sports cars)
How about a fleet of supercars?
APU is a high-speed train and robust metro network
A GPU is a room full of 10k kindergarteners and the CPU is a room full of 24 Harverd students
Now i want a sport bus
Literaly the main differences between CPU and GPU are : Branching, Memory protection, I/O control. GPU can't do these things properly. Yes CPU can do all the GPU work, have a Pentium M laptop running debian 12 and didn't notice until accidently finding out that GPU driver did not work.
*CPU is like a dog eating a hamburger with a side of Kentucky fried potato beef* *A GPU is like a Roasted Bacon on a grill that was used to fried fruit salad on June 16,1991.* Hope that helps
It’s literally spam vs skill
So everyone in this comment section js became a genius at analogies and similes huh?
Explain: A CPU is designed to do general-purpose stuff, like it's designed to handle a bunch of branching control flow and memory management. However a GPU is much simpler, it's just a bunch of parallel processor for a very specific use (matrix math, used in everything from AI to graphics to molecular simulations). So CPU runs GPU
