The great thing about GOS is you start from a blank slate and then you can decide how much of your privacy you want to trade for convenience and automation, and for how long, temporarily or permanently. Even if you don't use open source alternatives and proprietary apps without using google play, and just get everything from play store, your phone will still be a lot more private, faster and with less crap on the screen than standard Google android.
