People are mad because the Steam Deck going up signifies the end of an era for consumer hardware, not because Valve raised the price. It was one of the last bastions and now it's gone, that's all there is to it.
It sold out for a few hours when it first came back in stock. Ever since then it’s been available for purchase, at least in the US.

People forget that Gabe's yachts literally double as marine and medical research vessels. Definitely luxury purchases, but he's put them to good use.

6:00 Linus, the overwhelming factor of the original Steam Machine failing was the lack of compatibility. Proton didn't exist yet to the degree it is now, so all games had to be Linux native, and noone had any motivation to port their games for a niche console.

I mean at this point i have this thought that market just shifts towards "the ones who have the money" rather than "lets make it as afforable so we can get as many people on board" and ofc scalpers basically hoard these devices regardless of how outrageous the price can be.
