Today we take the Cessna 172 Skyhawk for a flight from Mackay to Hamilton in Australia - but the purpose of the flight isn't really to fly the plane - it's to show you how to programme the G1000 by hand - including departure airport, destination airport, en-route waypoints, and procedures (SIDs, STARs and Approaches). I have prepared a step-by-step guide to most of the functions in the Garmin G1000 - you can download a copy here: https://ko-fi.com/s/8d167d5596 #msfs #flightsimulator #aviation #flying #flight #simulator #microsoft #asobo #tobii #garmin #g1000 #navigation #fms #c172 --- Useful resources: My homepage: - https://jonbeckett.online My flight simulation blog (subscribe by email for free!): - https://jonbeckett.substack.com All of the functional procedures I have written up to get aircraft up and running in simulators: - https://ko-fi.com/jonbeckett/shop The flight simulation community I founded (join for free!): - https://virtualflight.online --- Resources I use to create content: Microsoft Flight Simulator - https://www.flightsimulator.com/ Navigraph (charts, flight planning, and tracking) - https://navigraph.com Copyright © 2023 Jeppesen. Great Series Sir. Watch them with curious attention, thank you. I hate to contradict you but to be fair with WT dev staff we have to say that the G1000 does indeed follow VNAV . So , with a flight plan with procedures it will do just fine as the mayor airliners. One jewel I discovered long ago is that you can program in an "Virtual " approach procedure , stated as "Visual" which will grant you an flawless RNAV like approach to whatever runway you choose. Obstaces on ground are yours to consider. Very handy. Thank you for your constant work Sir. A BIG contribution for the community. Greetings.

i'm just at 7 min of video and you explain more than other videos that i had watched
I’m enjoying the series and learning things that other videos haven’t shown. My only issue is that I don’t have Navigraph and don’t plan to buy a subscription since I’m more of a casual simmer. I do use LNM and I think the EFB has some approach plates but I’m not sure. Is there another way to find the altitudes for the approaches? Thanks for all you do.
I'm following along, my MK2 departure does not have the 800 ft limit in the sequence window.
That landing was smooth as, mine are more like ryan airs even in a cessna 😂😂 great video learnt a lot, thank you.
Good job, Jonathan! Your pace is perfect. So many others on YT seem like they are in a race to meet some phantom time constraints on their videos.
Hi Jonathan, thank you for your excellent guide. It’s super helpful and really improving my rookie skills. I truly feel like I’m learning now. Since following this instruction, I finally “get it,” and I’ve enjoyed it much more because I understood it better and felt less frustrated. Keep up the great work!
Great video, lots of info and fun!
Good stuff. Can you one day look at DME arcs. They always confused me.
Did I miss it ….. ??? Upon completion of the flight plan set up you clicked load but at no stage did I see you activate the flight plan. Apologies if I missed it. Excellent tutorial again.
When are you fixing that tool that logs the flights for the virtual airline?
Thanks for the great video! I just started playing this last night and I'm having a great time. I want as much knowledge as possible
Love it! A little bit of Australian high-life.
Just working through this. It's a right click on the end of the rotating knob to get the cursor in there.
Very good video learn a lot
very good vid. Thanks.
Brilliant vid thx
Didn’t know Brian Cox could pilot a plane!🤔
Quick question...im using Xplane 11 and when i set up my flight plans, i never get an "origin" and destination. The rest of the flight planning goes normal. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
