Kudos to the BBC for making such excellent documentaries! Brian Cox does an excellent job telling the story of how natural forces create the wonders of our solar system. It's also an excellent example of how Science can be used to determine the story of it all!
As I listen to Prof. Brian Cox and look at the pictures he presents, or just his description, I can feel my face light up and then I look and see the same expression of excitement on his face. I imagine sitting down with him over a cup of tea/coffee and just sharing a conversation about the wonder of this magnificent universe. Wouldn’t that be great. of us getting excited and more eager to learn more.

This is the series that got me into Astronomy, cosmology, physics, etc. Brian is truly amazing!
I saw the northern lights while snowboarding in Alaska. It exploded then receded in a ever changing magical display of great beauty. I sat in the snow transfixed and amazed with this wonderful display being etched into my mind for as long as live. Seeing the night sky from the North Shore of Oahu and on a ranch in Montana are also part of my reality forever. I can visit these moments over and over again and often because long ago i decided to focus my life on experiencing as much of this planet as possible, her mountains, deserts, forests, and oceans offer wonders beyond description cuz they become imprinted on our spirits. Experience this planet 1st person and seeing/touching new places gives the human consciousness a little better understanding of physics opening up our minds to new possibilities. This is why we must physically explore space and our solar system. discoveries in our solar system will start to allow our brains a higher level of understanding so aliens and cosmic life can eventually be observed.
I would love to go see his talk in Seattle but there's only a few seats left and they want a thousand bucks for them..

10:33 I didn't know about Herschel's measurement of the sun's energy, that was really cool! Very intuitive and profound approach to quantify something every one of us is familiar with. It reminds me of Galileo measuring the squared relationship of gravity by rolling a ball on an incline and spacing bells out by distances of increasing squares (1in, 4in, , 9in, 16in, etc) so that they each rang at the same tempo.
