School method is universal

The trouble with the YouTube method is that it is restricted to certain numbers whilst the school method is universal. And reassuringly this is the way that I was taught 55 years ago.

On how I’d do it is that I have to know on what 110 square is which is 12100 And using the formula of squares, 109 squared should equal 12100-109-109-1
