You could tell a narcissist you found out you have cancer. They would literally say im sorry to hear that and then proceed to describe in detail the new car they are buying.

Gosh, to me, this simple sounding "narcissist " label is so inadequate for what this type of personality is actually guilty of. They are incredibly destructive and complex... I will say no more.

Didn't truly understand narcissistic personality disorder until I read the full definition. Then realized omg that's why my mother is the way she is!!!!! I just thought she was selfish! It does help knowing there are reasons behind her actions and decisions and what comes out of her mouth!!!!!

Narcissists don't struggle with their "disorder". They destroy everyone they cross paths with throughout their lives. Their victims do struggle with a lifelong trauma inflicted by them.

Fantastic video I ended a five-year relationship one month ago. Something that truly bothers me is the decision to end a relationship with someone I love. I've done everything I can to win him back, even if it's all for nothing, and I can't picture my life without him. Even though I've made every effort to stop thinking about him, I still find myself missing him and thinking about him frequently. I have no idea why I am saying this.

My young adult kids will call me a narcisist. I have started therapy so I can be better and regulate my emotions better. I love my kids and am very empathetic and compasionate person. I asked my therapist and she said that I wasn't. But will not dispute my kids.I am ok knowing that I messed up lots but loved my kids always. Will own up to any screw up and want to validate my kid's feelings. Oh I was diagnosed with complex PTSD.

I dated so many Narcissists until i worked out my Empath patterning from childhood (having a Narcissistic Mother - who is healing now). Narcissists are unhealed children walking around in adult bodies. But the crazy thing is, its not only childhood trauma and unhealed childhood programming with a Narcissist, but their is a spiritual element to it also, where negative entities can hijack the Narcissist through feeding off their unhealed lower vibrational emotions (remembering that we live in a world of energy, frequency and vibration). They see other people as nothing more than tools to be used and toys to be played with. And if they get bored with you they just throw you away and get a new one.
Thank you. I was raised by a narc mother, and I was afraid I had become one, too until you said that about having empathy. I have tons of empathy, so I was very glad to learn that I’m not a narc, and can get help for just mirroring some of my mother’s behaviors. It’s hard to grow up as an innocent child without adopting some of a (or both) parent’s behaviors.
It's Very Serious. The consequences of having them in your life will be very serious and never for your benefit. Ever. They might destroy you and a lot of other bad, bad things might happen. Ask me, I know. RUN.
Exactly. Many people seem to think that if someone is on social media, they're a narcissist. If someone humble bragged, they're a narc. If someone ever cheated on a spouse, they're a narcissist. Etc. A personality disorder is much more than a general behavior or life choice. No one is perfect. We all have an ego, we can all be insensitive at times.
