I'm 60. Just last year, I mustered up the courage to STOP talking to my manipulative family members who used FOG every time I tried to use critical thinking or when I said NO to their selfish demands. Enough is enough. I'm done.
The best relationship with a narcissist is NO relationship.
It's really important to know when someone is manipulative and how spending that time with that person drains your energy, they setup traps, talk you into things and many more things that i have learned in the e-book Exquisite Psychopath, would recommend to everyone.
Narcissists never grew up! I see them as bratty kids!
Every day all day. It’s exhausting. And they hate when you can see through their tactics.
At one point, I got so desperate I put my hand up ✋️ and said "Your words have no meaning here!" And it instantly sucked the air out of his lungs. He looked at me like a little kid that had just witnessed an unexplainable magic trick! Then he walked outside without a word. It was life changing because normally that type of event wouldve turned into arguing until the wee hours of the morning or until he felt like he destroyed me enough (or both). That day, the whole family got a boost in the right direction! He's out of the house now.
Where were you 30 yrs ago but thank you😢
They stop manipulating, when you stop caring.
Good lordt! My mother uses all three of these: fear, obligation, AND guilt!
My favorite line to shut down a narcissist is "I'd rather be happy than right."
Amazing! I put it on repeat for a while so that I could let it soak in. Thank you very much.
Chase, I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for these videos. I coparent with a narcissist and have spent about 15-16 years of my life in fight or flight mode. Over the last 4 years I have learned how to find my inner strength and not allow him to manipulate or intimidate me any longer. I have been able to stand up to him in family court and have been able to help our children heal, as well. Videos like this have been so very valuable to me. Thank you.
Pretty much every human I’ve allowed into my life so at 54 I let them all go. I never knew how wonderful life could be. It’s amazing ❤
F- fear O- Obligation G-Guilt CAVA C-control A-Acceptance V-Validation A-Attention..
I took my power back from my exboyfriend in 2018 when I told him he had to stay away from me and my dog or I would have him arrested. It took 7 years and a lot of misery and fear, obligation and guilt on my part. He could be so charming and caring and manipulative that only his family saw it and they’d been subjugated for decades and didn’t know how to free themselves from him. Especially his parents. I finally did but it was very hard and scary. I’ve remained single since then and will never let that happen to me again. So glad I saw this short as a reminder when I start to feel lonely or sad about being alone but I don’t know that I’ll ever attract someone who isn’t a manipulator. So I don’t trust myself to make a wise choice. So I don’t date. Ever. It’s ok and most days I am perfectly ok with it. And when I’m not it’s only for a very short time and I know I’m vulnerable so I don’t ever let my guard down. Thank you for the reminder
Organizations follow this all the time.
I've found slowing things down, like really slow, and playing a little dumb, as a successful tactic. Don't be afraid, just be curious and 'take them seriously/literally'. Like, if the manipulator uses hyperbole to create fear, match their level of hyperbole in a proper response as if they were telling you something truthful and act accordingly.
In my life, I find myself entangled with two individuals who are both expert manipulators. Each of them frequently cautions me about the other, painting a picture of distrust and rivalry. Yet, when they share the same space, their demeanor shifts dramatically; they act as if they are the best of friends, exchanging smiles and laughter while I am left feeling uneasy and confused by their duplicity.
I was married to a sociopath who turned me into a shell of who I’d been prior to meeting him. C-PTSD, trauma, MDD & anxiety. I’ve been divorced 12yrs but a woman in an apartment beside mine helped me move in by carrying 2 boxes. At the end of the day she asked to borrow my car (the audacity is overwhelming) the way she said it made me feel defensive & afraid…i also felt guilty for finally saying no. She is just like him. Scary woman. I finally made sure she knew i didn’t want to have anything to do with her “You’ve been so ugly to me” i ignored her one day. I shut the door in her face. Huge apologies & love you (?!?) had i responded to that text..she was baiting me. Wild how many people are dangerously everywhere
I had mother telling me I had to do things for them because they are family. They never do anything for me!!! They use the FAMILY word as a method to create obligation. I have seen through this now. Beware of the family word. They have done terrible things but they think that I should do things for them because they are family. A family should be independent. A family should not be making demands constantly. They’re a very demanding family!!!
