Little correction: 16,777,216 is just how many colors 8-bit screens can display, color is a spectrum. For example, HDR (10-bit color depth) can display 1,073,741,824 colors. Are they "new" colors? No, they're the same colors you just get more shades, like taking a ruler, millimiter precision, and a caliper, 100-micrometer precision
