This rechargeable multi-functional flashlight was sent in by a viewer to my PO Box after it worked once… and then never worked again. So, in this video, I crack it open to see what’s going on. What should have been a fairly simple fix turned into a much more drawn-out repair than it needed to be, mainly because I failed to follow my own advice. Hope you enjoy! Steve Hope you enjoy! Steve PS. I'm not an expert in repairs at all. I do this for fun, and it may not be the best or safest way to go about repairing broken stuff. I'm pretty good at melting plastic though. Please don't copy me - I'm an idiot. Sometimes you've got to break it worser to fix it betterer.
The only channel where I press the like button before I even know if the content is any good. Keep it up, Steve! <3
im excited for that pokedex thingy
Finally after 10 minutes of screaming at my screen to check the button, Steve finally checks the button.
LED yourself down the wrong path but you saw the light and got there in the end.
never measure resistance with voltage on the board. you will get wrong results!
Glad you were able to pull it out of the fire in the end.
...It's alive again... I'm very curious to see if you manage to get the Pokedex fixed, too... Greetings from Germany... Andy 🙂
Warts and all. There is a flow to this video that is so natural and honest. It feels like i'm looking over your shoulder, being in the room. Genuine. Loved the Sugababes Outro . 👍
Great recovery Steve 👍😀 With smaller devices it definitely pays to work your way in from all the points of contact the user has with the device. Also, remember to disconnect batteries feeding circuits if you are planning on taking resistance measurements otherwise they may be misleading, or worst damage your meter. Keep up the great work and definitely looking forward to the game-thing next time 🤞😁
If there is voltage on components it will disrupt the voltage coming from your meter when it is measuring ohms. Only measure components when the power is disconnected.
When I first started 'messing with' electronic stuff (radios mostly), I was told by a knowledgeable chap to look for mechanical faults (like broken wires) first, they were the most likely problem.
I'm glad you ran out of time, that just means two videos from you!!!!!!!
This video is why we love your content Steve!! Keep it up!! And happy Father's Day!
It might be better to disconnect any voltage source (battery or whatever) before measuring resistance, continuity and other things because any voltage present will mess up measurements.
about time. enjoy you vids
20:37 the melted plastic police sent a text immediately after the confession... 😂
and this is why I like your videos Steve (at least one of the reasons) You remind me of the importance to check the simple things ;)
Thanks for your videos and for your tireless struggle against the second law of thermodynamics.
