This is such a relatable experience as the tech person in the family.
them meta glasses look so god damn goofy
Linus got sadder and sadder as Yvonne kept pointing out her flaws in the laptops lol
Framework NOT mentioned?! Madness!
2025: Oh boy what a great time to buy a computer 2026: ( *Shell shocked soldier image* )
"You knew old me" really hit hard
I don't think Yvonne is sticking with that Acer. Somewhere in the back of her mind she still wants Linus's old laptop.
Curious how the final pick held up against her actual priorities once she'd used it for a few weeks, since real-world fit tends to look different from the in-store impression.
"It's fine, its fine" Danger zone, I feel the pressure in that.
13:22 the fact that Yvonne didnt actually want a big screen but David literally measured the size she gave by hand in the interview that matched Linus' intuition is actually so funny and is the kind of very real problems tech people have when trying to help less techy people pick tech they actually want. Sometimes the vibes literally cannot be measured lol. Also, Riley was doing the absolute MOST with that ad segment lol
Wow 120-130 WPM Yvonne is indeed a fast typer. I can barely hold 120 for more than a few seconds on a good day.
Linus got FRIED in this. That's rough dude I feel you.
4:14 That's Truly What She Said 😂
I wish you filmed her and David picking a device talking about the decision in the store
"I need a screen this big." *gets exact size aked for* "This screen is too big"
22:22 yvonne looked so disappointed when linus did the sponsor thing
linus looked like he's about to cry when he showed her the two laptops
Nothing against Yvonne, but this is why i hate buying or recommending things for people who don't care and know absolutely nothing about what they are using or just go "you can pick for me". The moment you buy them something or recommend them something suddenly they know exactly what they wanted and expected you to be a mind reader. A simple "I just want my current one but faster/smoother" would have instantly solved it and is what she got in the end.
Reminds me of that one time I got a DVD player for my grandmother. The menu system made no sense to her and she didn't understand why the menu was always different when she put in a different disc.
> Be Linus > Hit with a surprise "guess what your other half wants in a new laptop" quiz > Blind-guess almost all of her answers correctly > Also recall important points of usability about her previous device from memory > Get good options according to those specs > Get it home, realise her use case and needs have completely changed > She wants something completely different you wouldn't have expected > Q.Q Said with nothing but love: that is the quintessential "shopping blind for your partner" experience, my guy! I see some comments roasting him for this but honestly I think he made a solid attempt with the (old) info he had. People's tastes and requirements change quite frequently with tech and they might not have consciously examined or expressed those changes until the time for a new device arrives.
