Honestly I think all things considered Valve did what they could. They've built a lot of good will with their customers and for good reason. I'm willing to take them at face value when they say that they're in a tough spot to release this.
Jay the part at 8:14 is wrong - it's a common misconception. A single DDR5 stick still only gives you a 64-bit wide bus, while all desktop CPUs support 128-bit (2x 64-bit). Yes its true DDR5 splits one 64-bit stick into 2x 32-bit "half channels," but that's still only using half of the CPU's bus. You still need 2 sticks of DDR5 for full performance. Gamers Nexus just proved it with benchmarks in their Steam Machine RAM video. 1 stick = 15% penalty in some games, even more in things like 7zip.
