With quantum computing, investors are in states that are a superposition of both making and losing money.
Having no practical use has never stopped a government from wasting the taxpayers' money on it.
That is indeed how weird it has become, we live in an idiocracy.
This is the sort of analysis we need.
So, my investments in quantum computing companies are like putting money in separate boxes. I have both gains and losses until I open the lids, but strangely, every time I open a lid, the money is gone.

Quantum computing has gone from a buzzword to a fuzzword
It's in a superposition of being both quantum and not quantum, only collapsing into non-quantum when you actually observe it.

This is my theory about what happened with the fusion bomb. They couldn’t deliver so they went with a hybrid approach. Never really worked.
QC is considered a national security issue. Funding will be found regardless of commercial potential.

Breaking encryption includes breaking the certificates that manufacturers use to stop people from installing stuff they want to install on stuff they own - provided the stuff they own has been kept away from the Internet to prevent the manufacturers from updating it (not necessarily with the owner's permission). But admittedly, that's another "once it's done, it's done" application.
