Get your World Mug Experience before it's gone at https://cometeer.com/speeed20 If you like coffee, this really is a great way to sample a lot of different flavor profiles and figure out what you like. And it also makes a really fun gift! Yo are CDs back?? Physical media is having a real moment. So ofc we had to ask: is it actually worth it, or is streaming just as good now? We set up a full vinyl hifi setup, a modern CD equivalent, and lossless streaming spotify streamer side by side to find out. We break down turntable components (belt drive vs direct drive, moving coil vs moving magnet cartridges, tonearm materials), how a CD player and DAC actually work, and whether streaming can really compete with physical media on sound quality. If you're thinking about getting into vinyl, upgrading your CD setup, or just wondering if streaming sounds as good as everyone says, we made this vid 4 u. "the gear is just an excuse to care" actually hits the head on the nail for me way more than any other reason i've heard before
Host your own Jellyfin Server and collect FLACs. You get to 'care' and 'collect', AND can stream this high quality, lossless audio wherever you want. It makes you much more intentional about what music you acquire, and what you listen to. BUT, you get to stream it to your carplay/airpods/gym bluetooth. Truly the best of all worlds, IMO.
Never stopped purchasing CDs. Every great album from 1986 to 2012 is available in a discount bin for 3-5 dollars; all you have to do is find the right one. Last weekend, I discovered a treasure trove of 2010s atmospheric metal albums in a hip hop store. The world's your oyster
I really love how this channel covers most of my interests in life.
"I LOVE stupid little bullshit." I've never resonated with a line so much lol. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about when it comes to hobbies you're passionate about. What a great line Mr. Pumphrey.
you two are excellent presenters but whoever edits y'alls videos is insanely good, props to them
The difference that GOOD speakers w/ a solid amp makes...kinda life changing in how music can be experienced and appreciated.
It seems like a big part of the message from Speeed, is that they want you to care more. I for one, have.
I love that speeed has turned into the modern generations version of GQ/Maxim
A big upside to Vinyl is the hunting and collecting. Going to record stores and hunting for a specific album is something my wife and I love to do together.
It’s been 84 years…
The way I see digital vs. physical media is simple. Digital has the issue of choice paralysis, or analysis paralysis if you will. When you acquire physical media in any form, whether it's games, movies, TV shows, or music, your options are naturally more limited. This can often lead us to care more about the things we own, sometimes to the point of bias or even obsession. This doesn't take away from the convenience of digital as you can experience new things more easily than you would by buying physical media. The takeaway is to appreciate what you have, enjoy it in whatever way makes you happy, and share that joy with others.
Speeed is just KILLING IT. This isn't just "content", it's real and from the heart, and in that way, it makes a connection. Love it.
instant concentrated coffee sponsor in a video with vinyl is hilarious. It's like the antithesis of vinyl.
What’s even better is when you put your schiit on top of each other, it’s referred to as a schiit stack
My favorite New Yorker cartoon of all time features two guys standing over a massive stereo system atop a cabinet filled with albums. One guy says, "The two things that really drew me to vinyl were the expense and the inconvenience."
I’m just here as an old head to let you youngsters know about Enhanced CDs. SOME CDs from the Mid-Late 90s would come Enhanced, meaning that you got extra content by putting the disc in a CD Rom. Extra content like music videos, behind the scenes interviews, extra tracks, artist biographies, etc. So go find an external CD Rom drive for your laptop, put that Wu Tang Forever disc in, and visit the Wu Mansion!
Spotify is for finding it. Vinyl is for keeping it. Great breakdown 🔥
Vinyl for experience and collecting. CD for clear sound and archiving. Streaming for convenience and on the move.
Mac Demarco is an elite pick. I think it made the video better.
