The government won't let this happen because they can't put the yellow tracking dots on it.

I mean, laser toner is the best version of printer, but this does make me wonder if this open printer skips the little constellation dots that give away the serial number and time of printing that regular commercial printers have. It'd be really nice to be able to counter SOME of the privacy invasions we constantly deal with.

HP is gonna send their assassins after this guy, if they haven't already

Also, we can finally get inexpensive A3 printers. It's absurd how much more expensive those are when the only real difference is a bigger tray and a rail 10cm longer.

Brother is also a decent option. Never had an issue with one and you can get refills cheaper than HP carts.

Will these open source ones also do the gps fingerprint weirdness all modern printers seem to insist upon?

I've had a Brother monochrome LaserJet for 5 years. This thing never gives me any problems whatsoever. I can easily print from any phone, tablet, laptop or desktop. It doesn't matter, as long as it's connected to the Wi-Fi network. Also, an OEM refill cartridge purchased on Amazon (or anywhere) lasts us for years. It's never dried out. I can go 6 months without printing anything and it just works.

Nice, something that we need and it looks like its parctical this time because it can print banners like the old printers from the 90s

The Brother laser printer that I got in 2010 is still the best tech purchase I've made.
Finally... someone ACTUALLY did something.
HP, Canon, and Epson got him.
