For people wondering: Diamond is increasingly viewed as a "holy grail" material for next-generation semiconductor thermal management due to its extraordinary thermal conductivity, which is approximately five times higher than that of copper. As modern chips become smaller and more densely packed with transistors, they generate intense, localized heat that traditional silicon substrates struggle to dissipate. By integrating synthetic diamond layers directly onto or within the chip architecture, engineers can create a highly efficient heat spreader that rapidly pulls thermal energy away from hotspots. This drastically reduces operating temperatures, preventing performance throttling and component failure, and ultimately enabling designers to push clock speeds higher and increase transistor density without the risk of thermal runaway.
