Built on permanently frozen ground, the coldest city on Earth is now facing an invisible threat from below. ❄️ Yakutsk is the coldest city on Earth. In winter, temperatures can plunge below -50°C, turning this remote Siberian city into one of the harshest places humans have ever inhabited. But today, Yakutsk faces a new and growing danger. Beneath the city lies permafrost — frozen ground that has remained solid for thousands of years and supports every building, road and piece of infrastructure. Now, the warming climate is changing everything. As the permafrost melts, the ground becomes unstable. Buildings crack. Roads deform. Entire neighborhoods risk collapse. Scientists, engineers and residents are now racing to understand how to survive in a city literally built on disappearing ground. A fascinating journey into one of the most extreme places on Earth — and one of the clearest warnings of a changing planet. 🔔 Subscribe now and hit the notification bell to embark on a journey of knowledge and discovery with us. If you go to the middle of Russia down into the southern regions you will see that the permafrost has consistently every year ruined the railroad system and it has to be constantly maintained. So the permafrost is filling in the middle of the country first and it appears to be dividing Russia into two parts
Natural cycles in global temperature change don’t happen in decades it happens in hundreds of thousands of years…😳
Study history we must know ouer civilesation wil disappeare like all the others before us 🕊🦚🦋🌼💀🌼🦋🦚🕊
What is sad is the distraction that leads everyone to do nothing. Just swipe and its on to the next traumatic situation in need of attention. Swipe again and folks are celebrating a $5,000 doll. Smh
It’s been a while since I saw such a great propaganda! Masterpiece.
Only man could be ignorant enough to think the man is not screwing up the environment
Sounds like more bullshit.
For me, it's depressing.
It's clear that all the Russian officials are too scared to go against the party's declaration that climate change is a Western propaganda tool. So don't go to Russia. Go to other Northern countries, like Canada and Finland, and there you'll see permafrost melting like crazy and scientists brave and smart enough to call a spade a shovel.

That was VERY INTERESTING.
Easy solution... Much like construction on a coastal sandbar - where there is NO bedrock and soil constantly shifts from one state of extreme to an equally opposite state of extreme within the useful design-life of a project. Every structure and infrastructure must be designed to adapt to the expected conditions throughout its specified term of usefulness. We use a combination of multiple concrete or wood piles driven to a depth beneath finish grade that corresponds with the design depth of one, individual, concrete bell-base pier... you're constructing an entire sub-foundation system of spread/bell piers to support everything built above. Look at the support of the historical buildings in Venice... similar situation, but with mud and earthquakes...
How old is this. It has to be a re upload
In the States the cops speed right by people freezing to death
That was excellent. Thank you.
Really interesting.
I guess those people don't shower.
Why can't climate change be a combination of man made effects and normal cyclical changes? It is hubris to believe we know the definitive answer one way or the other.
7:13 this is amazing it was -40 but now it’s much more mild winter it gets up to -27 !!!! Wow that’s a warm day!!!!!. I prefer cold climates I would be sporting fur coats!!! I I purchased a antique six skunk fur vest in the 1980’s and have only had the opportunity to wear this vest a handful of times:-( California weather never gets cold enough for wearing this work of “clothing art”. I also have a men’s leather jacket with the lining of dyed coyote fur on the inside (the lining) I was told that the fur was “shaved” a clipper took off the top few centimeters so all the gaurd hairs are gone and there is soft fur making contact with the body. I need to live in Siberia!!!!:-))
That is absolutely a different world . 20 days of summer, wow!
