The color coded cable (RCA) cables don't come loose and fall out. They are quite sturdy. And they do not get tangled often since all the sables were joined together so all three cables run parallel to each other most of the time. Yes HDMI is an big improvement.

This was only a problem in North America, here in Europe we always had SCART which did all that with a single cable.

Never have I had an RCA cable just "FALL OUT" once plugged in.

HDMIs need better grip in my opinion. Mine keeps slipping out of my Blaupunkt telly with the slightest movement.

RCA cables didn't fall out that late into the 20th century, but mixups, I can definitely see happening, it was a common issue with computers before USBs. HDMI is great outside the licensing fees.

It wasn't really a problem with color, coding or cables falling out, it was mostly bandwidth and technology of the old color-coded cables.

You might be a little young, but whoever told you that RCA cables "constantly fell out" was either lying to you or pulling your leg. If anything, when you finally had to change them or move them, they were a little stiff because the oxidation had lightly glued them in place.
