I figured Linus would know this, but Black Frame Insertion is impossible to use simultaneously with Variable Refresh Rate because each technology cancels the other out, BFI depends on a stable refresh rate to know where to insert the black frames and VRR depends on the input frame rate falling within a range to dynamically adjust the panel's refresh rate to accommodate any variance.

At this point, using a monitor as a tv feels way easier than all this configuration before being able to actually use it. I miss when tvs were just tvs.
