Yea, that geogrid would get washed out in any area that gets regular rainfall. You could use it to improve slump, but would need to fill it with a mix of soil from the site and cement. As this mixture is already being used in most road construction projects in the US, the geo forms would only really help in hilly roadbeds with loam soil.
Try using that in tropical rain country. Without concrete base that will not last rainy drench season with alot of truck traffic.
CENTURIES? Get a grip.
Try achieving compaction on SAND, you need structural support to hold the several foundational, load-distributing layers (binder, base course, sub-base & sub-grade gravel) that are beneath the bitumen-bound surface (asphalt).
