Fun fact. In the 90's a lawsuit was held over emulation that showed it wasnt illegal and was in fact legal competition to games Edit: To put some more explanation behind this for those interested, I thought I’d add this bit. So Emulators (software that makes games playable) are legal. ROMs (aka the game itself) is where the legal issue is a concern. If you buy ROMs or get them off the internet, then it’s not strictly legal; however, it’s not fully illegal. It’s more of a grey area everyone is too scared to touch. HOWEVER, if you get your ROMs from your physical media of the game (aka download a copy off of your game disk) that is entirely legal, and within your rights as the owner of the physical media. Which may be part of why Sony wants physical dead.
