We found that this has been happening to tons of users, made worse by LG's shady history with TVs that instruct buyers to inform house visitors of third-party microphones in their living room. I live in the EU. Out of curiosity, I unplugged and replugged my LG 27GL850. One minute later, I received a message asking if 7zip was properly installed, and the LG Monitor App installed itself automatically. It's all very sketchy

Why the fuck is my monitor installing software? I always hated the motherboard self-installers and thought they were a horrible idea which they were but this is just goddamn ridiculous.

It's fascinating, I remember building a PC more than 15 years ago and back then McAfee av was already treated as bloatware with all the preinstalls. Yet they're still around and seem to seep in into even more places, truly one of the cockroaches of tech
What about TVs and monitors in doctor's offices, hospitals, government buildings, lawyer's offices, police departments, etc.? It is impossible to demand or even obtain consent from all parties. It appears that it is time to severely limit what companies can legally ask for in terms and conditions, as well as their ability to change terms and conditions agreements.
