Flip smart phones are so garbage. Had a guy at my house repairing my washing machine yesterday. He had a Samsung foldable. I asked about it, he showed me, half the screen didn’t work. Told me it was his 5th one in the last year and he spent $2000 on it.

More than a decade of engineering have went to "Slab phones" to toughen them up. Foldables and flips are still in beta, and users are testing them for the companies, for free.

Typing this on a Flip5, I absolutely love it but at the same time I wouldn't purchase one again. Around 6 months in, one of the hinge covers broke off/melted off? Then eventually the 2nd one broke too. In NZ it was going to cost me $600 to replace, so my flip hinges have stayed naked. 😂

Fold phones are cool as long as they work. My wife had two and both got failures with the screen after two years when warranty had expired.

It always surprises me that people don't really realize that such a mechanism fails like that eventually

Main reason why I stay away from foldable devices

They gotta bring back the flip phones from the 2010s that had keyboards on both axis

I've rocked a Fold 7 since release and I work in construction. Never once had an issue. I've dropped it, thrown it, drowned it. And it's still just as good as the day I bought it.

Heck yea, ive 2 flip 3 phones. One in yellow and one in purple. That hinge got broken only 2 months after using it both have greenlines all over it like crazyyy. Good for back up phone and occasional use but never meant to be a daily driver phone. Foldable sucks.

I've had the flip 3, 5, and I currently own the fold 7. I got about 1.5 years from each of the flips before I dropped em and the screen went. I've had the fold 7 for 1.5 years now and have had 0 issues. I absolutely love it and can't see myself going back to a normal phone. I've dropped it so many times with this cheap case and it's always been fine. I will certainly be upgrading to another fold when this one eventually breaks, they're just too good.
