Just FYI, although most laptop motherboards don't have physical power buttons on them, many do actually have the space for one, so they can have one added for testing/diagnostics in the factory. E.g. at 3:03 you can see an empty space labelled TP_PWR_SW1 to the top right of the keyboard connector - that's probably it, and of course you could test it in the same way. Finding that and soldering a wire to its 3.3V pad would generally be quicker, easier and with a more reliable connection than using the keyboard connector.
