the coolest Keyboard Switch doesn't exist anymore

Problem: you need that button to physically sit down after you press it, you don't want it to spam the key while it sits. After you press it, it needs to click once, sit down, and activate the caps lock, you don't want it to spam the caps because it will either switch really fast from caps on to caps off, or won't do anything at all until you press it up again. The function of it sitting pressed would work better on a shift key, but oh well Edit: "Just map it to the shift key" does not help in any way whatsoever. The point of the video is to make a vintage caps lock on a modern keyboard. By changing the key to shift changes the whole premise of the whole video. Edit2: A bunch of pedantic answers for a whole bunch of pedantic responses: "Then make this button for the shift" The point of the video is to change the caps lock key into the vintage version, not to change shift, because shift has a whole 'nother lot of functionalities besides just making letters upper case. "Vintage caps lock probably just holds shift" It doesn't, because pressing a symbol key doesn't trigger the key to write the upper shelf symbol. It literally just makes lower case letters upper cased. "Keeping caps lock pressed doesn't make it switch between the states for me" "Good for you" would be the answer I'd love to give to this, but it's impossible for this to be the case. If you push down the button and it spams caps lock, then your caps turns on once, and if you press it again it won't turn back to off, it will stay on and you will have to press it twice again to turn it off. It's stupid. "A button that switches like that cannot be pressed without keeping the button pressed as well" It absolutely can. The button he uses in the video is called a "Latching Switch". The one that would be better for this application is the "Pulsating Switch" "Just put a light on it" I would. Most RGB keyboards turn the light under caps and num lock into a diffrrent color to signal when they are active, but also for most modern keyboards it is really hard to tell that color from the rest. I would love to turn back to our anscestors and have a little light on the side, or a point on the key that lights up, but that won't happen. If you don't find your response here, then it really wasn't worth addressing. Also, I understand I might be coming off as an asshole, I do not think people are stupid for asking stupid questions. Questions are not created equal, some are stupid, but the person asking them is not stupid for wanting to understand. Some stupid questions come because of stupid explainations too, and because I explained some things in a stupid manner then the questions will be stupid in return. We are all stupid and not stupid at the same time, depending if the button is pressed or not xD

The thing is, you’d want a kind of momentary locking thing, which executes twice, like a normal keayboard switch upon pressing down, and another one on being released. This would ensure direct compatibility with ig the common caps lock key, which normally as far as I know will just start tweaking when it’s physically locked. Also I would love to see this kind of switch as a new „Yeester-…“ type product. :)

That's sadly actually not what you want the toggle switch to do. Since you want to put it in the caps lock, you do not want multiple inputs, you just want one when you press it to toggle caps lock and one again to untoggle it, with multiple toggles it will just turn caps lock on and off constantly

just fyi, you can't use a constantly emmitting switch for capslock. it will turn on and off. you need a one activation per press switch, or a program to ignore the awful amounts of energy your switch would use past the first press (within a delay)

I sold a Commodore 128 from 1985 and it has a locking key for capslock and I think there was a locking key for 40/80 columns modes! That key was for its weird CP/M mode, like a 70s DOS.

This would be really cool, but wouldn't it be the equivalent of just holding down caps lock? Meaning to switch caps lock off you'd need to untoggle it and then toggle it back on?

Idea: put a frame that looks like its from the 80s around an OLED screen

Make the whole keyboard out of those and try to play cs2 with that
