Now they are eliminating the rotation clutching. Small 3 phase AC variable speed motors turn the swash plate. Considerably more reliable mechanically and efficient.

No idea, no tiene nada que ver con las vibraciones o los impactos, el plato oscilante variable es para comprimir más o menos refrigerante en función de la demanda y así consumir menos energía cuando no es necesario. Es la tecnología inverter de los A.A. de las casas pero en vez de variar las revoluciones del compresor varían la cilindrada.

Dont know what kind of compressor my 58 cadillac uses, parent bought it new. I do remember it put out very cold air. It didn't fail till 1968. Big okd thing, still in place under the hood. It got used about 5 to 6 months every year. Palm springs California car. Very hot long summers, 115 to 120 degrees.
