With more castles per square mile than any other country in the world, to a small town dedicated to books, to charming pubs and incredible coastlines, Wales shouldnt be missed! We spent just over a week walking the beaches, hiking the mountains (including Wale’s highest peak, Snowdonia), visiting with locals, and enjoying a pint (or two) in the cozy pubs. Im always smiling ear to ear watching your videos, this one especially. Cymru am byth 🏴
are you coming down West Wales for the best scenery in Wales. The Gower, Pembrokeshire with its coastal National Park and footpath that goes round the county ,Ceredigion for its coast line if dont you can not say you been to Wales and its beauty, and we have castles as well my town of Tenby has town wall around the old town from the 11 century
One word for you .... Portmeirion. 😊
Welcome to Wales! Our country is beautiful and friendly and kind, and we love this video
Maybe more Americans will be attracted to wales like they are to Scotland …both beautiful countries ..
I would say this, but as a Welshman, I agree that Wales is the forgotten country of the UK for visitors. Thank you for sharing its beauty. Even as a local, it is easy to disconnect from what is on our (relative) doorstep!
Caerphilly castle is an impressive one to go and see.
All the Welsh Castles have a Dragon underneath.
The knitted topping for the post box is part of a craze called 'yarn bombing '. There are more examples around the U.K. 😊
Wales is a small country but so beautifully formed. Thank you for showing the world my homeland.
I love sitting in really old pubs & churches and wondering about all the people that have sat where I was in the distant past, it really is history you can feel.
0:43 kinda does sound like you’re saying Wells. That’s a town in Somerset! It’s Way-els
I live just over the border in England not for from Hay on Wye and going to Wales for the Summer holidays as a kid in the 80s was yearly thing, Porthcawl, New Quay, St David's, Tenby we did them all and now as an adult with children I still do the Welsh holiday now and again. The mountains, the coast is just wonderful and Pembrokeshire is one of the few places in the whole of the UK I'd quite happily move to.
Man, im so proud to be Welsh. CYMRU AM BYTH!!!!!.. Great video <3
Your really should have visited Portmeirion. It's a beautiful Italianate village and the location for the sixties tv series The Prisoner.
Wales isn’t unknown because it’s insignificant — it’s unknown because England spent centuries suppressing Welsh governance, extracting Welsh resources, and erasing Welsh language and culture. Wales was annexed, not partnered. Even today, UK branding and tourism promotion overwhelmingly push England and Scotland, leaving Wales under-promoted. The lack of visibility is a legacy of political absorption and cultural suppression, not a reflection of Wales’ worth. Wales isn’t obscure because it lacks history — it’s obscure because England spent centuries trying to erase Welsh identity after failing to conquer us for hundreds of years. Wales resisted longer than any nation England ever fought, and the “punishment” was political absorption, cultural suppression, and modern under-promotion. That’s why Wales barely appears when you search for UK destinations today — it’s the legacy of being the nation England couldn’t break.
I love Wales, been there loads and still not seen it all, such a beautiful place. Glad you enjoyed. Looking at your itinerary you missed a lot of the west coast and Pembrokeshire, so you need to re-visit.
Kindle is a swear word here in Hay….good job you whispered it. The knitted man on the post box is a local delivery driver and a bit of a legend
Grew up near Llanfair P.G ( place with the long name) & can’t believe you didn’t show either of the Menai bridges that took you there from the mainland. Also, a cousin of mine used to drive the train to Snowdon summit at one time.
Shame about the weather at Conwy. We were quite fortunate weather wise when we were there, so much that we made the mistake of eating our fish and chips outside on the waterfront. Why? Before too long, we found ourselves the object of interest to a bold seagull - which was soon joined by some "friends" - who were soon joined by more "friends' (it was like a scene out of Hitchcock's The Birds). Then they attacked! Fortunately for us some chips fell on the ground which distracted them when we beat our hasty retreat! 😄(btw, these weren't the "castle" walls you walked for free - these were the town walls - and, as you pointed out, you have to pay to get into the castle to walk the actual castle walls).
