Giving write access to AI in production is teaching these companies a much deserved hard lesson.
To clarify - since the news has all the energy of your grandmother talking about Fortnite - this was an autonomous coding agent that they gave full admin level credentials/permissions, gave it a task that could be fixed by erasing data, and put the backups on the same volume as live data. In other words, if you ask your super smart dog to drive you around, he didn’t “go rogue” when you get into a car accident. You’re just dumb for letting him.
