I feel like you understated the whole "built on-site thing". For some mining trucks, they have to literally assemble them from the ground up on site. In some cases, parts like the dump bed can be hauled via truck fully assembled, but it's a massive operation that requires specialty trucks and trailers, road closures, permits, and a number of follower cars to keep everything safe. And if you can't do that, you have to build more or less the entire thing on site from scratch. And they're doing this usually in the absolute middle of nowhere, potentially hundreds of miles from proper civilization.
