“You live long enough to become the villain”… Sony is probably not run by the same people or culture that once was revered in the 90’s and 00’s. I’ve seen this across industries over time.
It's pretty nice, just a shame they decided to use a $2 LCD display.
Can't get over that display. At this price point it should be so much better
Guy at the Yamaha store: "Excuse me, i need a CD Player, can you helo me with that?" "Sure, over here!" "You don't also happen to have a Piano here, do you?" "No Problem, follow me!" "It might be a long shot, but I also need a motorcycle actually" "No problem, this way!"
23:08 A device from the past that still will be usable in the future, unlike devices from today that require an app to be installed on your phone for basic functionality.
Thanks for checking the gapless playback. I've been burned a couple of times recently by modern CD players. Great video as always!
That dab sticker/FM radio marking is probably that way so when they sell it in America they don't put the sticker on. Then they avoid hundreds of calls asking why the dab doesn't work.
Why did Teac implement such an awfully slow LCD? I miss bright crisp vacuum fluorescents.
Any player that doesn't play gapless is simply not a CD player in my opinion. Imagine playing a live album, or side two of Abbey Road, with gaps between tracks.
While a model that hasn't been refreshed in many years, Sony still produces the UBP-X800M2, which does CD, SACD, DVD, DVD-A, BD, 4K and MANY file formats.
Be as loyal to a brand as the brand is to you
As a British expat that's lived in the US for the last 26 years I can honestly say that one of the things I miss most is listening to (good) radio broadcasts. Yes I grew up a BBC-snob but incessant commercials on TV/Radio is just audio waterboarding. I'll go back to my old man nostalgia bubble now...
Heart breaking that even the Sony tv's are all transitioning to china (tcl) this year. No more Japanese Sony tv's. Never thought it would happen.
the fact that sony have also now announced physical games are no more completes their assault on physical media
rotel, your one-stop shop for radios AND canned tomatoes!
LCD looks like an HD44780. About 30 cents bulk pricing. The rest of the case looks nice but that LCD is a head scratcher.
23:29 As always thank you for the video Mat!
Gave up on DAB radio and radio in general years ago. For the stations i wanted to listen to, it felt like they played more adverts than music.
I miss the old days of SONY tech 😢 The 70s/80s & 90s stuff 😝 + I got a PS1&2&3&4&5 so I'm a massive fan of PlayStation too but after they said they are dropping physical discs that has killed my excitement for the PS6 😢 (I enjoyed buying games on physical & playing it & then putting it in my PlayStation collection & now most of that enjoyment is going?!?!) Hmm 🤔 it's not for me that future 😢
That's the slowest LCD displayI have ever seen!!! Seems TEAC wanted to lower cost.
