What I love about this channel is the clarity of the technical explanations by the guys.
Use a high gear to stop the engine turning, the lower the gear the easier it will turn
You should always run a gasket between cast and aluminium to prevent corrosion, The JPC billet pump is the best option. The factory thermostat does not block the bypass hole in the bottom of the housing. Qwikaz sell a Dayco thermostat that works better and a upgraded fan kit.
Im no mechanic but this is by far the best breakdown of a cooling system I’ve seen, simple & clear. I didn’t fast forward once
It’s not the viscosity that changes the fans speed. The thick fluid does create the drag. But the bi metallic coil on the front controls the flow. Great video though keep up the great content.
Dishwashers are very good parts washers, you'll save a lot of effort and get a great outcome
The viscous isnt controlled by viscosity. On the front is a bimetallic strip that reacts when hot air from radiator blows over it. As it expands it opens a valve and the fluid runs due to centrifugal force in between the plates and drag increases therefore the fan locks up more.

Mate, do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of RMI-25 and just run d demineralized water and do about three or four flushes with that I can guarantee if you were to pull apart everything again 3 months time. It would almost look like polished metal inside!

Had the exact same leak on my CRD ZD30 couple months ago, ended up pulling the head rather than the front timing cover so I could knock out some other jobs at the same time such as Injector service, egr blank, intake clean + 3in exh and egt gauge install. Love the new editing style with the random facts at the bottom of the screen 🤙🤙
I agree about these vehicles, I have never had a cooling issue and I have towed up and down hills towing a 2.5 T offroad caravan in 43 degree heat and that was with the standard fan. I have since installed a UFI fan. A well maintained TD will not have an overheating problem.
