This only works with some display types and the modern lcds are so thin that it will be very difficult to not break it. It is a cool idea for old monitors though.

With a bit of chemistry you can use them as solar panels too

I'm not breaking it bad advice, only break old monitors if they are broken or laggy, if it's not any of that, then save it

You can create an image of a crack, and it will look like a cracked pane of glass.

The idea of a transparent screen on the side of a pc case is soooo much better than xmas tree rainbow leds.

this is so peak, i wish they made monitors specifically for this purpose, its a bunch of work to actually get and getting the right size for a pc case might be hard

I mean, a lot of old monitors could be great doing this if you're smart at dismantling and rebuilding a kit. With all those tank PCs, it would be a valuable kit!

back in the day (2000's) we would tare down LCDs like this and turn them into a projector for movie night. Good times.

Neat idea, but will only work for a limited number of people. People will need to have a Tower PC with a glass side panel, unless you want to put the screen on the outside. Of those people, they would need to have a setup with that side panel visible, not tucked in a desk compartment, or under the desk and facing the wall. Of those people, having a Tower case with the right size glass panel restricts who this would work for, unless they accept having excess space on 1 or more sides of this display. You'd also need clearance inside the case, and many setups just barely clear the GPU, or CPU cooler tower when they close the side panel. Then after all that, you'd also have to have an unused video port available.
