BYD's Blade 2.0 torn apart in Germany AND China — here's what's really inside BYD's new Blade Battery 2.0 has been dismantled by experts in both Germany and China, offering a closer look at its internal design, cell structure, and engineering improvements. The teardown highlights BYD's focus on higher energy density, better thermal management, and lower production costs while maintaining the safety-first approach that made the original Blade Battery popular. So now Germany is doing reverse engineering of Chinese technology and try to steal technology?
So we're worried about wear from a theoretical charging speed that Europe and presumably US chargers can't actually reach? 😅
The problem isn't battery technology, China would share this with Western companies and these companies would still price the final products highly
people usually use slow charge at home since the electricity price is cheap in the midnight. super charge is used more for highway trip.
So Germany can't compete with China; instead, they have decided on a smear campaign against BYD. This is a pathetic attempt to cast doubt on a competitor's innovation. How the mighty have fallen.
Longer range and slower charging makes more sense. You can plan a lunch stop and it doesn’t matter how long it takes to charge in reality. More range means more choice for stops….or no need to stop at all.
When fast changing in less 15 minutes is widely available, range becomes no issue.
hey matey you should turn up your volume by about 5 to 7 %....it is hard to hear parts of your video...just saying
Since I'd almost always be able to slow-charge at home, I'd definitely go for more range - to indeed guarantee that I can indeed just slow charge at home, which is typically multiple times cheaper per kW than fast charging on a a public charger.
Charging speed is way more important to most people. They are hectic, have 0 patience and on road trips they need short breaks every 2-3 hours
The artist painter who founded VW rolls his eyes in the grave byd should install some mechanism when the batteries hear german or japanese or muric0n voice, they start blowing up
Range vs. charging speed: a longer range requires fewer charging occasions, but if most of one's charging is from home, the additional charging occasions are not a factor. What is important is a single car that one can use for both daily commutes and occasional long trips, and for that the charging speed is more important. Slow charge at home for longer battery life, but avoid the need for a "back-up" ICE by owning an EV with fast charging capabilities. The most important question will be how often one can fast charge without significant battery degradation.
It's stealing. They will lie about the test results, say they are overheating etc then copy it anyway. Thieves.
Problem is not design or chemistry its cost and mass production and safety
It so interesting to see it is LFP but shorter blade style and electrolyte. Perhaps BMS upgrades also. Thanks Sam for this video.
Germans are stealing intellectual property from the Chinese🤣😂
It took the europe 2 centuries to figure out how chinese procelin was made and be able to replicate. China was once a more advanced civilization
hahaha... Germany is doing reverse engineering - copying Chinese technology 🤣
If charging stations were to become as ubiquitous as gas stations, range may not matter. Currently though, there just aren’t enough charging stations in more remote areas of the US.
That's impressive they just did it with regular LFP cathode and graphite annode. That would mean there's is still room for improvement in terms of energy density if they could add manganese in the cathode and silicon in the annode in the future iterations.
