lol love all the sponsors after the last video keep up the good work
I appreciate the metric units. Thank you.
One thing you should maybe doublecheck is the bearing setup of your propshaft. In the paramotor the prop is pushing, there is a risk they used a bearing setup not suitable for pull forces.
What about getting rid of (most of) the battery, and using a dynamo to constantly charge it during operation? Maybe you run out of fuel first anyway, but it would simplify its operation a bit.
The iterative process is always fun to watch unfold - especially when I am not doing it! Great looking build so far, Sam!
you already have yaw authority, so you wouldnt need the typical X4 layout, you could go with a y3. youd save mass and airflow diaruption of the additional arm
Don't forget about the gyro effect of the big main rotor. It will offset pitch/roll controls by 90°.
Somehow, it seems to me like you're simply going through the helicopter's development in reverse. Still, it's a really cool project! I hope you manage to get the thing off the ground. I think the gasoline engine causes far too much vibration for the Betaflight flight controller.
You need a flyback diode on the starter relay input. When you turn off power to the relay input you will get a high voltage spike back from the coil.
9:16 tuning the PID controller without main rotor rotating is not going work well. Gyroscopic force of main rotor needs to be taken into account when tuning stabilizer PID, and this force will not be present if you tune with main rotor stationary
be weary of emf interference from the magneto could mess up servo signals and esc. shielding the esc with foil would help or maybe the magneto casing is shielding the emf just fine on its own
I can see you having massive radio and ESC control issues with the spark plug and magneto on this motor. Have you had this issue yet, if so what are you doing for shielding? Maybe using metal braided cable sheathing to help redirect EMI from the spark plug firing.
Delayed response from main thruster. Super long booms (vibration and ocsilation). Minimum power controls. PID nightmare. You must really like a challenge.🤗
This project looks awesome, best of luck.
I think you should probably add some sort of smooth shroud below the main propeller so the air would flow smoothly around the drone and not hit the engine and other parts and make a lot of turbulent flow
Awesome project! Watch out for the ignition system emr... Nasty stuff
Been waiting for this video. Hell ya
My intuition is telling me the solution to the problem is a really really large rotor
Good luck! Great work!
Best of luck to you Sam.. everything will go as planned don't stress it.. we're all pullin' for ya
