I made a very smelly mistake...I bought one of these on-demand scent diffusers that is supposed to sync with your PC or TV. Turns out, it might just be a brick instead. I hate how nearly every piece of tech nowadays requires an account, an app and a permanent WiFi connection to work. Selling your data + easy planned obsolescence.
Anything that requires a phone app to work is a hard nope from me

Heres how it works: It's like one of these cheap humidifiers, and there's the main part. There's a piezoelectric module that vibriates like a speaker, and the liquid goes up and exits, and you smell the smell
oh, what now did you do?😂
The dream end goal for this is to, instead of having vials of premade scents, to have vials of specific key notes to create multiple scents when combined. Also TO NOT HAVE IT REQUIRED TO HAVE AN APP TO FUNCTION. seriously, it just needs a USB cable and drivers on the PC. This isn't hard.
I made a steak. YOU MADE A STEAK?!? Yes..
Gunfire- BURNING RUBBER?!
needing an account for that is crazy, it's like you need an account to turn on ceiling fan, i dont understand what's the point
Needing an app or an account to use a hardware that doesn't need it is so lazy and malicious, which is usually a recipe for bricked or broken tech that technically still functional. I guess in this case an app or more so drivers are necessary since it'd obviously have to communicate with the game you're playing in some way to release the fragrance but man is it frustrating to see time and time again y'know?
Another problem with that would be ventilation, you would need to ventilate the room before the next smell starts or else the smells will mix
