This kind of stuff happens all the time with those cars. He said he bought it as a shell. I worked for a company that sells wrecked/salvaged vehicles we had one come through that we sold where everything was legit. The problem being it was rebuilt and the frame it was rebuilt with was off a stolen charger. The police took it from the customer and the customer was refunded by the company.

Not stolen but you can be sure that when it's all cleared up that the police won't pay for towing court cost or missed work not even an apology. I went through something similar. 😢

Nah I don’t like this bs sometimes they literally lied nd said my car was stolen had it on hold until the dea could release it saying that it was never stolen or anything they arrested me and allat even tried to hit me with a felony went to court showed my paper work and they still charged me a $600 ticket

you can use abandoned property laws to get paperwork on a stolen vehicle, so it is possible someone knew it was stolen and managed to sell it with "some" paperwork. Having the paperwork on a picture on a phone certainly doesn't help.
