Technically you're able to place cushions in the blocks for the same reason you were able to place them on the inside walls of composters, so they might fix being able to place cushions directly inside FULL blocks
Can't wait to occupy my inventory with 4 stacks of cushions and a potion for a 2-hour mining session so I could die in lava
The problem is it requires you to carry like 70-100 cushions. And since they stack to 16, that's a lot of inventory space.

fun fact, its actually (very slightly) better to look at an angle of 45, 35.266111373901363634786321199499070644378662109375 (yes i know its VERY specific, but look at like 45, 40ish) and it will add up to a pixel every 30-40 cushions, and can be used to get cushions at incredibly precise locations
keep inventory players gonna look and go "lava is faster though" actually escape rooms are probably not gonna have as much trouble with this as i imagined

The best survival use for cushions is escaping webs or traps is SMP-based gamemodes.
