This is gonna make Rust programmers angry. Reflection is one of the most powerful concepts in Computer Science. Unfortunately, not every programming language is blessed enough to have it. In the 1980s, one company, Symbolics took the concept to the logical extreme. By representing EVERYTHING as objects; they created the most powerful (and inadvertently) least private operating system ever created! The company collapsed, but the ideas live on. A good analogy would be, for runtime introspection. Its like fixing a car while its running. 3lisp is like fixing the mechanic while the mechanic is fixing the car while the car is running.
About a decade and a half ago I did in fact have a Linux server that had an uptime of over 6 years. I even patched a couple of critical kernel security bugs by loading some self-modifying code into the kernel with modprobe. They were crazy times.
