It should be criminal for car companies to lock away the ability to repair your own car. There’s no excuse for why people can spend $50k-140k for a car and not be allowed to work on their own cars. A car is the second most expensive thing you will buy in your life and you have to be at the mercy of vehicle manufacturers. It is an asset and should be treated as one. You don’t contact the developer who built your house to get a new radiator installed. Locking down cars from being repaired or worked on via software is a systematic attack on people’s ability to create wealth through assets. Utterly ridiculous that this is accepted by society. People need to learn that this is not a good thing. Software should have enabled us to actually have much better cars. Instead it’s allowed manufacturers to lock down their cars even further.

Guys, guys, GUYS. I do not want Lucid to go out of business. They employ a lot of good people, and I genuinely hate seeing people lose their jobs. In case it wasn’t obvious, I actually really like their cars. I made a Lucid video years ago giving them praise because I thought the car was cool. I just want a clear path for the people trying to keep these cars on the road to buy parts, access diagnostics, and repair the vehicles they own. RIGHT TO REPAIR MATTERS. Just FYI. The second Lucid realizes that your car has a salvage brand (which will happen during the title transfer for the state or your transferring the car in Lucid's system), they will turn Service Mode on remotely, even if it wasn't on before. So Rich's car will end up in Service Mode no matter what. Ask me how I know...
