Use motor oil when you drill big holes in metal, turn the bit slowly, heat is your enemy, heat removes the temper in your bit, do you work well when you lose your temper? The guy that taught me things was born in 1900, I am not wise, I am just relaying his wisdom.

Add a starter brace to the end of the starter motor. It’s a tiny bracket that’s available from gm or summit. I fought the same issue on a ls6 454 I built for my Chevy pickup years ago. After breaking the nose come on several starters I bought one. Never broke another starter. Good luck

Use the later 8.1 starter, Remy part # 99768. It uses the same bolts you currently have.

Anybody with hair long enough to fall over their shoulder needs to wear it contained in a shop. Kaitlyn, you're going to end up with your hair caught in something - and be "lucky" if you only end up scalped. High School shop class taught me that 45 years ago.

Shim the starter and put sleeves in your upper shock mounts for the bolts to run through.
