This is one reason why people love Once Upon a Time, more back story to the characters. Another is The Dark One
The scenario here cannot be translated into current times. For this mom this was a teachable moment. She knew that servant wasn’t intentionally doing anything bad to her daughter. She was wishful thinking and day dreaming with a crown that was not yet truly given to the daughter. So she didn’t invade or disrespect the child. She apologized for pretending to be a princess for two minutes. The queen didn’t care and wanted to show her child that even servants deserve patience and gratitude

That little speech was rich coming from Ava (Snow’s mother). Considering the way she treated Cora (Regina’s mother) and all…the damage that caused to an already angry person, couldn’t be undone.
The servant wearing purple, the color of royalty, is a nice detail.
