Join me for a chilled vlog this week as I navigate the school summer holiday juggle. I share how Iβve been feeling after a recent knock to my confidence as I approach my 40s. I'm honest about my thoughts on the pressures of botox, my body image and potential peri-menopause symptoms. We also cover some recipe ideas, fave skincare & seeing James Taylor live! I just want to say that while you might feel that everyone has some type of Botox or filler, itβs really lovely and refreshing to see an influencer (or content creator whichever term you prefer) not have any! I think a large portion of your audience will also not have any so please donβt feel alone! It makes you feel more βrelatableβ so to speak to see a woman just be naturally herself like so many of us are, without tweaking and changing things! Absolutely nothing wrong with doing those things and I love that women get the choice, but itβs refreshing to see someone in your field of work be more natural like us βnormalβ people π
You don't know how much I appreciate seeing you on my screen as a 37 year old who also doesn't want to get botox. I am so grateful to you for talking about this and being so honest and open!
Lily you don't look old at all! if anything whenever I put your vids on on a Sunday I always think you have a real Dua Lipa look about you!!
Thank you for talking about body image and confidence, very refreshing to hear from the online beauty lifestyle/space. I'm so conscious of how we all view becoming older women and I'm really trying to reframe it - it's not easy though, but more conversations like this really help! Xx
Hang in there Lily, youβre so close to your zero-fks-forties. I highly recommend this decade π
Dear Lily, I absolutely loved Foggy Mornings with Fleur, and I just thought the whole time how absolutely beautiful and self-possessed you look. As a mom of teens in her 50's: your life isn't all downhill from here; women become more confident and thrive with age!!! Perimenopause is not the life-changing disability that unfortunately some people seem hell-bent on making it seem. HRT exists and is very effective. despite some symptoms you will live your life, your kids will grow into themselves and you'll love that, you'll get yourself back and move from strength to strength. As for the tweakments, they are always visible and not particularly in a good way. I think you're just having a down period and maybe need a bit of a break; it's been non-stop for you. This too shall pass!!
Think how incredible your mom and grandma look(ed), without having done Botox or filler. You will age like a fine wine, do not worry at all! Lines and aging is normal and does not make you less pretty
Hi Lily, thank you for talking with us about your confidence and body image, I think itβs so relatable! And also being able to see someone online who doesnβt get Botox/fillers. From my perspective, you look beautiful more than ever and look much younger than your age. I understand your pov about Rich thriving and becoming more attractive, but thatβs also subjective and you see him that way because you love him. What Iβm trying to say is that people that know you personally and love you, probably see you so beautiful no matter what and no matter your age! Have a great Sunday, thanks for another lovely vlog π
I think itβs so refreshing to see someone on the internet with no botox etc so many βnormalβ influencers do it now so seeing someone online without and vocal about it too is amazing
It is so refreshing and SO IMPORTANT for people hear about others' experiences with their body image, changing sizes, eating healthily, etc. Thank you. I hope you know how much of a positive impact you are having!!
How refreshing..someone real..someone beautiful and someone who is honest. Seriously Lily you are smashing it β€β€
I am convinced that pendulum will swing back and the widespread botox/filler trend will be replaced with honoring natural beauty and ageing. And possibly there are some health consequences from constantly injecting foreign things into bodies. Smoking was also once considered okay!
Hi Lily, it's great to hear you discussing the situation these days with people modifying their faces. I'm 37, and have given a lot of thought to getting filler (I have quite bad frown lines) and Botox. I decided against it, but it's not easy when everyone is getting it, often without acknowledging it. I think that people in their 30s/40s who get these tweakments look great for a while, but the effects are cumulative, and ultimately I think people end up looking really weird. I heard someone recently say "you can either look old, or you can look weird". So I'm going to aim for old π
Lily, you are gorgeous β€οΈ We all get these wobbles and itβs so hard to ignore them, but just a quick post to remind you that I think you look amazing and youβre by far the most relatable person I follow. β€
Absolutely loved foggy mornings I think Fleur was a great guest. She comes across as so down to earth like yourself β€ in relation to hardly any phones at the concert I totally agree. I'm a gen x and was getting way to comfortable with using my phone a lot. Me and my partner have been away for 2 weekends this summer and have adopted a no phone policy when we are out and about. Phones stay strictly in the hotel room and it has been just so freeing to live in the moment like everyone used to. Absolutely love your vlogs β€
The 40βs, 50βs and 60βs you may be perimenopausal/menopausal π₯° however, you enter an era where you start to know what you want and donβt want and have learned to say βNOβ without regrets and start to allow yourself to really sit in the feelings. We are starting to give more attention to womenβs health which is so hopeful. Do we need to talk about patriarchy social constructs π€π¬ the thing that gave no attention to women. We werenβt even considered people with rights or a voice for 100βs of years OMG Lily!! I will stop ranting now but please do not stop talking about these concerns. They are real. Take care and thank you for putting all things out there π€
Honestly, you never looked better (Iβm a long-time follower so I feel free to say that π)!!
It's refreshing to see someone age naturally. You look great! I think it's so important to show that to people.
I walked into Boots the other day and I swear every woman/young girl I saw had filler or botox. It looked utterly bizarre. At some point it ends up actually ageing them or making them look odd. You look youthful, lively, gorgeous. It is always refreshing to see people in this current day without all the works done. Looking NORMAL!
Itβs really refreshing and makes me feel less self conscious to follow someone who looks like a βnormalβ (but still very beautiful!) woman β€οΈ
