Around 15 years ago, The Flashbulb played Portland in an unreasonably small venue. The other acts took their sets less seriously due to the small venue (not sure what the promoter was thinking) but Benn had a massive setup and played as much live as I think I've seen still to this day, all while chatting with fans and being a laid back, cool guy, exactly how he comes across in his videos. I'm so happy to see where things are going with his channel now, and the recognition he's bringing to important and interesting topics. Benn, you might not see this out of all the comments, but thanks for being an authentic, creative, and caring individual. You're a tremendous inspiration in so many ways!

7:06 Oh no… oh god.. my linguist brain… In English, it is very common for unstressed vowels in a word to lose a lot of their “energy” and shorten down in a neutral “uh” sound called a schwa /ə/; this is what happens in the word “malicious”, where the unstressed “Mal” (technically, “ma”) becomes something more like “muh.” But in the word “malware,” as a blend word, the primary stress is placed on the first syllable, bringing out a preference in many American dialects for the /æ/ sound (pronounced like in the word “cat”). This is the same sound we see in similar instances where stress is on the first syllable, like “malice” and “malady.” Benn seems to be extending his logic of the pronunciation of one of the base words of the blend (“malicious”) into this new word, which actually is able to act independently as its own valid word and thus has its own linguistic rules it gets to follow :) From a descriptivist POV, if 4/5 people prefer the [mæl] way (rhymes with “pal) and find the [mal] way (rhymes with “call”) kinda weird or off, then the majority wins out no matter what reason may dictate :) But if Benn prefers the second one, and there is other precedence of people pronouncing it his way, that is also valid! Thank you for this video!!

I am a Cybersecurity student and many concepts that are explained in Benn Jordan videos are very entry-level Cyber concepts. I say this, not to discredit Benn's videos, but as encouragement to anybody that feels passionate about these things to please start studying Cybersecurity, even as a hobby. Especially with the advent of Flock cameras, illegal deportations on American citizens, tech giants cataloguing mass amounts of data on you, we need more good guys with the knowledge to fight back. Sidenote, I recently used Benn Jordan's Flock camera in a paper for school! So thanks for being a good source of information.
