The part number on the failed Turbo Compressor Housing "06K145722G" is from a 2.0 TFSI 210-233PS not a Golf R, could explain the loom change for the actuator and why it destroyed itself when boost was increased... Someone cut corners replacing the turbo previously.

Considering that turbo disintegrated on both cold and hot side, i am surprised they didn’t remove the intercooler and its piping to check for any material in there.

1:28 on EA888s the exhaust manifold is integrated into the head. This becomes a problem when you’re chasing north of 500hp.

So you spent weeks looking for a genuine golf R that wasn’t modified so you could then go and modify it. Love it.
So when the turbo chewed itself up and send all that metal through the intake to the intercooler (it's even shown in your animation at 10:00) you just seem to glance over this fact? When a big enough metal shard gets past that intercooler it's gonna destroy the engine.
Those mirror caps would look great colour coded to the wheels.
